As you guys know that installing windows Vista and windows 7 from a USB is not a magic but making this process more simplified and adding some more windows family members to install from a USB stick is something worth reading.

WinToFlash

WinToFlash not only creates a USB boot for Vista and 7 but it also creates the installer for windows XP, 2003 and windows 2008 server too with few very easy steps.

wintoflash1

wintoflash2

wintoflash3

The default options make it easy to roll a silent Windows install, or you can flip the custom switch and specify the exact setup parameters you want to use.

Another very good use of this application is to make all the troubleshooting application bootable from the USB so that not to burn the CD’s all the time to troubleshoot the PC. WinToFlash is a free download and is totally portable. It’s an excellent tool to add to your USB-related utilities. To download this marvelous application please use the link under given;

Your so-called simplicity and ease-of-use is indeed there but the functionality isn’t…
works for sh!t, tried 3 different usb keys of different sizes, 3 different XP cds and images… none have booted

    but thanks anyway

  2. Fredo says:

Azhar, thanks for posting my comment, I’m writing back to respond to your question. Indeed my system is USB boot capable and I’ve managed to run a couple of live CD linux distributions. The reason I decided to write back is because I did some more work on the system in question and tried yet another XP pro cd… an older disc with SP2. The others were slipstreamed with SP3 and most recent update.
Now from all this testing and dirt digging, I’ve arrived at the conclusion that nLite slipstreamed discs had a pretty big problem… they’re stripped of the recovery console and option to repair an XP installation. An alternative that works is Autostreamer (link @ http://www.softpedia.com/get/T.....amer.shtml)
There’s also something that is questionable at the time being as I’ve not been able to fully “test” out. I had BIOS updated the motherboard of this system but there was no significant mods in the update itself. I tried reverting to the previous BIOS that was on the motherboard but it did not have an effect on the whole XP install, from whichever medium used (CDs or USB). ATM, I’m doubting that it’s hardware related…

Next step is trying Win2Flash on an unmodified XP disc and I’ll let you know what happens.
    Cheers.

Thank you very much. I installed xp sp3 on my dell inspiron mini from 4gb kingston flash disk easily. No problem..
But remember on boot screen to select firstly “1. TXT MOde Setup”.If not, welcome “hal.dll error”. After formatting and copied xp setup files, pc will restart. Select “2. GUI MOde Setup” now and after every reboot untill you see xp desktop welcome.

Dr. Ahmed, thanks for sharing your problem with me. If you have a DVD of the windows 7 please download any ISO creation software to create an ISO from DVD to write it on your USB for USB installation. Then use this software and give the path of ISO file to write on USB. I hope this will help you.

in this site I saw some note as follow

Limited OEM driver support is available with F6 during Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 setup

Note:- Mass storage controller drivers can be loaded only from floppy disks by using the F6 key. The F6 key cannot be used to load drivers that are stored on USB flash drives, on USB hard disks, or on other external storage devices.

Windows stater 7 already installed in my notebook, There is no any virus on it.And also I think there is no any hardware problem with it.I think Drivers is the problem according to microsoft site.Thank you very much for your concentration.
    Have a Nice day

  19. pancha says:

I got the solution,Problem is there is no any sata drivers with Windows Xp bootable disc. Therefore we have to make a bootable windows xp cd with supported sata drivers which included in motherboard driver CD.
To include the sata drivers to the bootable ISO of windows XP you have to use the nLite software
Then you can use this software or other software to make a bootable flash drive.
    Thank you..!!
If you have any problem send me emails

    Hi Azhar,
Can u tell me what is windows file path in the tool? is it the the drive letter of the windows cd?
Also do i need to create iso from the cd?

  22. azhar says:

This tool accept an ISO file and create a bootable USB to start windows installation. To create a bootable ISO image from a CD please use any ISO creation software like poweriso. Please let me know if you need some other help

  23. Rahul says:

U didn’t answer my first question that what path i need to give for “windows file path” in the tool?
It takes only folder and not file, so where to give iso file?
can you give me step by step process to do so.

  24. azhar says:

Rahul, You need to browse for your iso file and give the folder where your iso file resides in Windows File path

  25. Rahul says:

    Hi Azhar,
I tried that and its telling me “incorrect source of Windows files” when i press next.
When was the last u tried creating bootable USB using this tool?

  26. azhar says:

what tool you are using for your bootable iso? I can create a bootable USB in just few minutes and I had created it before writing this comment to you. Here is another way to create a bootable USB, Enter your windows CD in your CD ROM and plug in your USB drive with your laptop or desktop. Now open your NoviCorp WinToFlash application and go to the menu where you have to select the windows source and the usb drive, click on the windows source files and go to your CD ROM drive, select the root of your CD ROM drive for windows source files, now go to the second option for your USB drive to be bootable and select the USB drive from the options, IN My Case my windows source file was in my F Drive and USB Drive Was H Drive, I think this will surely help you, Hope it will solve your problem.

  27. azhar says:

If you still have some problem creating your bootable USB you can add me in your MSN and I can give you live support at azharalibuttar@hotmail.com, thanks for being in contact with me for IT support. I will appreciate more comments from your side

  28. Tom says:

Didn’t work for me writing a 7 iso from XP… After rebooting, all I got was a newline followed by a “j” (or a “.” followed by a newline and a “J”). It may have something to do with the fact that I had ESET NOD32 installed (and couldn’t disable it, because I had lost the configuration password). Finally, I got my hands on an external DVD-ROM so I gave up trying to write the bootable flash drive.

  29. Ali says:

    Hi there,

My problem is same as Pancha.

Do you knwo where I can get the SATA drivers to include in the flash drive? Also How can I incorporate the drivers into the flash drive. I used Nlite software and went to the driver’s section and tried to load up a driver but alot files came up and wasn’t sure which one to pick?

    Any help would be appreciated.
